Mr. Suraj Gaikwad's narrative is another success story for the Y4D Foundation's Digital Training and Resource Centre (DTRC) initiative, which is implemented in conjunction with Alfa Laval and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. He is teaching in the PCMC school for a long time. Everything was going smoothly for him until Covid- 19 pandemic entered our lives. The entire educational system shifted from classroom teaching to virtual mode, and he started facing issues in conducting online classes due to a lack of digital literacy and the online tools were very new for him. Then suddenly he got to know from the Principal of the school that the Y4D Foundation has been conducting digital literacy training for PCMS school teachers. The training comprises three days of extensive sessions starting from the fundamentals of Microsoft Office to the use of various web resources for online education. He states those three days were life-changing; learning new things was fascinating, and knowing about digital tools and infrastructure was extremely beneficial. After that, it became quite easy for him to provide online education, and he now feels very confident during online sessions with students. Mr. Suraj Gaikwad's journey, like that of many other teachers who are dedicated to learning new things in order to deliver better education to their pupils, inspires us to keep working toward 'Digital Literacy’. PCMC teachers are now extremely comfortable in conducting online classes and taking sessions on smartboards, and they appreciate Y4D Foundation's mission to provide free digital training to the less advantaged.
