Sustainable Agriculture

Samridh Kisan is a project started with the objective of giving farmers a fair return for their hard work and moving them towards sustainable agriculture. Shri. Bharat Naik is one of the beneficiaries. He started producing baby corn in his farm on an experimental basis in 10 plots of his farm and he got good benefit from it. Elaborating on the experience, Bharat Naik said, "I used to farm in a traditional way but now I have received guidance from the Y4D Foundation for baby corn and I started on an experimental basis. Initially, I sowed 1 kg of seeds in 10 gunthas. From that, I got 200 kg of baby corn and green fodder for dairy animals. I had to engage my farm to get green fodder. But by planting baby corn, I got not only fodder but also financial income. The green fodder benefited the dairy animals. The milk grew and I got financial help to feed my family.”
